Delivering High-Performance Learning Environments
LG Architects has extensive experience in designing, constructing, and renovating educational facilities, including science centers, performing arts schools, global studies buildings, and student housing. The firm’s work combines new construction and complex renovations, integrating sustainable strategies, modern technologies, and flexible programmatic solutions. This expertise ensures durable, high-performance, and student-centered learning environments across campus settings.

Education Buildings
The Global and International Studies Building is a new academic facility designed to consolidate multiple departments and research centers focused on global studies, foreign languages, and cultural disciplines under one roof. The program includes classroom and collaboration spaces, an auditorium, language and cultural resource centers, faculty offices, and student gathering zones. Set within a context of distinct campus geometries and sloping landscape, the design interweaves formal wings, a transparent atrium, and outdoor terraces to make the building both a hub for interdisciplinary exchange and a landmark for global learning. The total size is approximately 165,000 square feet, and the project pursued high standards of sustainability.
Indiana University - Jacobs School of Music
The Jacobs School of Music project involved both expansion and renovation of existing facilities to reinforce its role as a leading institution for teaching, performance, and musical scholarship. One of the major components was the Centennial East Studio Building, a new structure incorporating teaching studios, rehearsal rooms, practice rooms, offices, and graduate student spaces. Alongside that, there were additions to the existing performance and rehearsal facilities, and refurbishment of performance halls to improve usability and experience for both students and audiences. The project was designed to accommodate modern pedagogical needs, technological demands, and to align with long-term institutional goals for excellence in music education.
Indiana University - Musical instrument towers
The Bicentennial Grand Carillon project transformed an earlier carillon installation, augmenting and relocating it into a newly designed tower to commemorate the university’s 200th anniversary. The instrument was demolished and upgraded to “grand” status, increasing its musical range and capability. The new tower, standing more than 120 feet tall, establishes a prominent visual and acoustic landmark on campus. Key goals included honoring heritage (the original carillon was built in the 1970s), improving structural integrity, enhancing sound projection, and making the carillon more accessible for both musical performance and public engagement.
This project involved both the expansion and major renovation of several existing science-buildings on a university campus. It united multiple departments under one cohesive sciences complex, creating new laboratory, teaching, and collaborative spaces. The work included a substantial infill addition, a glass atrium that connects formerly separated buildings, and the modernization of older wings to bring them in line with current pedagogical and research standards.

ZTA Dormitory
The ZTA Dormitory project was conceived as a modern residential facility that supports student life by providing safe, comfortable, and community-oriented living spaces. The program features student bedrooms, shared lounges, study zones, and service areas that together foster a sense of connection while balancing privacy. The design emphasizes natural light, efficient circulation, and the integration of social spaces, making the dormitory more than just housing—it functions as an extension of the academic and social environment.
